Has anyone seen one of these for sale? My FFL dealer has one and it is a no lock model. Stainless steel 10 round with a 10 inch barrel. Asking price is $795. Im on the fence whether to buy it or not.

Any opinions?

Well now get a pic if you buy or not . My curiosity has been picked . Custom job , home grown , factory ? The 617 Mountain gun was nonexistent till one day a bunch were available then gone the next. Anyhow I think a unique 617 at that price you shouldnt lose.

Ditto.
These long barrel full lug guns are muzzle heavy and a bit awkward.
I'd rather put 8 bills toward a six incher.(which I have owned as a 617-1 six shot, in addition to a four inch 617-6 ten shot lock gun.)

Don't be offended, but I don't know how much you know about revolver barrel lengths. Over the years I've seen a few shooters who tell me they have a particular barrel length SW revolver that I've never heard of and when asked about how they measure the barrel length, they are measuring from the front of the barrel to the back of the top strap. Have you actually put a ruler to the barrel to check the length?

Most often, they measure from the muzzle to the front of the frame.

I know that, I was asking him if he measured the one he's saying is 10" long. I want to know how HE measured it...or the dealer. I had a guy tell me one time his model 629 had a ten inch barrel on it (before IHMSA silhouette guns) and I showed him how to measure it and it was 8 3/8", not ten. He'd even been shooting for a while.

Yep I know how to measure (lol). I was going by what I was told and it seemed to be that long holding it. Waaaay heavy in the front end as expected. Ill try to get a picture too.

My 617 with an 8-3/8 barrel could use wheels and a bipod.
