Depends upon your area and market or online!

Guys are quoting outlandish prices on NEF/H&Rs lately, but my son and I have bought three over the lat year and each was between $190-200.

Id say pay what you feel comfortable paying. For me, I wonít pay more than $250 and Id only go that high on one in a chambering I havenít seen in a while.

Mine would only shoot the very over priced 33gr Remingtons and that was when all 22mag ammo was scarce. I made it into a 22k hornet. Great gun. Could load it from 22lr to 221 fireball. Shot awesome, woodchucks feared it. I cant think of a better gun for that kind of money ($250-300).

The problem for me is I have to have it imported to Australia that's expensive also the aussie dollar is running way behind the US so a $200.00 rifle USD will run me to $300.00 AUD I could wear that ok but the import cost me bugger things up

I would like to fit a 5mm rem rimfire magnum barrel

If anyone has the 22 magnum for sale shoot me a message and I can look at import costs, the exporter is based in Oregon

Regular NEF in great shape could grab $200-$275 depending on furniture but now a H&R Ultra Varmint commands a quite a bit more.

Did you happen to find a NIB one your hiding.

Why don't you by a center arms contender and have a custom barrel made. It might be easier than to pay all the import fees and then convert it to 5mm in Australia.

The point is the money and effort to import an NEF would be better spent on almost anything else. You must have something over there. Smith Wesson? Ruger? Something?

This is the NEF/H&R forum so there will be fans of the brand. I have one now in 22mag and had several in the past. They are low cost, get what you pay for guns. There is no reason for you to go out of your way looking for one of these.

They make different frames for rimfire, centerfire, shotgun and so on. Barrels are on center

I have to say I have a 17 HMR with the heavy barrel and it shoots lights out. We are talking one ragged hole at 50 yds which is what I shoot at distance. The trigger absolutely sucks as it comes from the factory. I have done everything I can to the trigger but one must pull it all the way through the cycle to get the transfer bar to come into play. I have my trigger pull down near 1 lb but must completely pull the trigger back to get the gun to fire.. That darn transfer bar keeps these guns from showing much better then they can especially those with the Marlin micro grove barrels.

Just my thoughts

Never had a Handi Rifle or NEF in my hands so forgive the uneducated questions. Are the two actions in the rimfire the same just the NEF thing came when New England took over?

Handi Rifles we do see down here

Handi, NEF, H&R 1871 are all the same stuff with slight variations.

Hey fellas just found one over here but can find little information, not sure if its something someone just made up. Its listed as H&R 22 magnum with Stutzen stock, strange looking beast.

Can anyone shed any light on whether H&R or NEF sold these, its has a lot of flowing case color on the receiver and in very good condition.

Well it looks like I stumbled on to a pretty scarce rifle, made in 1975 s/n AN 2564671 model 157 cost me about $400.00 USD so expensive but ive never seen another H&R in 22 mag down here

John
