Diana 34 dovetail mount

I recently picked up an older Diana 34 in .177, it is missing the scope mount however. Does anyone know where I can obtain one? Not having much luck with google searches. I’ve found a couple of parts breakdowns, but no one seems to carry the part.

It never came with a scope mount as far as I'm aware. It requires a heavy duty mount (and scope) to handle the double recoil. Mine has a B-Square adjustable mount and it's never slipped on me.

Looking around now, I'd shop from this list:

That scope mount attaches to the dovetail, which is what I’m missing on my rifle.

My 30ish year old Diana 34 bought new didn't come with a mount either.

I am guessing you are meaning the raised dovetail rail component (part no. 21 in the above schematic) that attaches to the top of the cylinder on the rifle rather than a 'mount' which holds the scope itself?

If yes then you could try the Diana importer to see if they stock it.

If you have no luck with that you could probably adapt a length of scope rail by having it machined to the contour of the cylinder and having it drilled to match the screw holes on the rifle.

I think a call to Umarex should get you going.

Agreed Al. I had to drill and tap my 1985(ish) 34 to mount a scope.

Yes part 21 is it. I’ll give Umarex a call.

Well Umarex does not offer that dovetail as a separate part. Itís not screwed in, itís pressed in at the factory. They are saying I will need to buy another receiver to get the dovetail.

Maybe Iíll just stick with iron sights on this gun.

Well J, in the spirit of RFC enablement and adhering to my personal motto of, "Keep throwing money at it until it's fixed or dead." I'll offer another possibility.

1) Buy a rail and drill and tap the receiver to mount it. 1 example in 11mm, there are many others in 14mm/3/8", Weaver, or Picatinney https://www.pyramydair.com/s/a/Air_V...th_Screws/5920

2) While you've got it disassembled to clean out the shaving from the drill/tap operation throw one of these kits in it for a little more horsepower and a little quieter operation https://www.pyramydair.com/s/a/Vorte...NA_RWS_34/7965

I certainly don't regret doing the above to my 34.
