40x markings

Hello Remington rimfire world.
I have been lurking for a while but finally have something worth asking.
So for the40x experts I have a few questions.
I did read the DOM post how ever there were a few more questions I had.

So I purchased a 40x 22lr usmc rifle a few years ago. My intentions were to have it built in to a rimfire trainer with magazine feed.shortly after purchasing it the Vudoo actions came out and I purchased some of them.

Lately I have been cleaning out my safes this rifle and a few other old rimfire rifles from Winchester.

So the rifle in question was purchased off gun broker I think.
It is a beautiful 40x with a 4 digit serial number as well as the usmc markings. It included the Remington stock with barrel adjusters, forward hand support/front sling point, regular white lines butt stock as well as a nice all aluminum adjustable butt stock. It also included 2 types Olympic type pep sights front and rear as well as a 10x unertyl scope.
The serial numbers match the bolt and it looks like there is very little wear overall.
When I received the rifle I pulled it all apart and cleaned it. Everything including the firing pin and trigger were gunked up with either a very heavy oil or oil that had solidified. So after cleaning it all up I thought it was way to nice to cut up.
So here I am trying to find out more info on it.

Markings-
On the left side of the barrel just above the stock the first marking looks something like a simple native America bird. I cant get a picture of it as my camera will not focus on it. Imagine the top of an opined line cross or plus symbol.
Next marking is a D
The third is a P
and the last one an X

So I kind of assume the rifle was built in sept of 1923.
However has anyone seen or know of the first and last markings?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

From what I have seen, the 40X was first produced in 1955, so not 1923.

Your P (for year) would indicate 1967 for a 40X

I don't know that a 4 digit 40X with USMC marking would have been built in 1967, maybe in 1957.
Is the bolt handle straight or swept back like the model 700 rifle.

Most all of the 3500 or so USMC 40X's were built around 1958, at least the two I have were. My wife has a 3 digit 40X that was built in 1955 and I have one of the 5 digit 40x's.

My mistake, I knew it was 57, but my fingers didn't get the message when I typed it.

Thank you all for the help.
I must have looked at the wrong P
It does have the straight bolt handle?
Where can I find more information specific to the USMC rifles?
