Reckon its a shame the one place the apart from here the 5mm loonies could gather.

Going through the old pictures thread could'nt help but be impressed the prototype eagleview put together, that was way back in 2011 and as far as I can see nothing has moved forward.

I asked over on saubier where Lowell & Eric visit about this rifle, nothing just dead air. How good would it be to have a modern rifle in 5mm?

From what I have seen of Lowell's posts, his other business products were overwhelming his time and capacity to pursue the 5mm project.

I just bought a Savage A17. I have a 592. Iíd love to be able to buy a new 5mm. Maybe a Savage A5 or A5mm? Heck, even a new bolt action would be cool. Iím not 100% sure but maybe the pressures are similar?

I reckon if Henry did a rimfire on the break action I would grab and have a 5mm barrel fitted, for me that single shot would be great. Unfortunately Bergara & Henry don,t do a rimfire

I would like to see a quality bolt action 5mm

The reality is we probably wonít,Eric is going to print a story of how he had his CZ converted over on Varminter.com.The easy way to get shooting one quickly is to have MGM build you a barrel as they have a reamer and Aquila ammo is still available, albeit expensive. For me I think a 20 cal version on the 17 WSM would be an interesting thought.A Contender may not be as nice as a repeater bolt rifle but for the range that the 5mm would be used I think it would serve well.My 17 WSM serves me well and the ammo is priced at a point that works for me and my colony varmint shooting habit.I think if 5mm ammo was reborn and priced better the rifles would come along but sadly Iím afraid that shipped has sailed.I think it would be great if the gun folks really got after some version of a 20 caliber rimfire again, either a 20 WSM or 5mm Rem magnum for the coyote and chuck shooters.
Sadly the bean counters want guaranteed sales immediately and these days Iím not sure they are willing to take a chance.

Not if contributors with a sense of humor keep getting, "Put in their place!" sniff

How did the 5mm ever get started in the first place? It seems like such a vastly superior cartridge, from what I see, why does it have such trouble getting any traction? So Remington took a chance in the Ď70ís and today nobodyís willing to do so?

Rem owned the rifles and the ammo and then pulled the plug. Today?, I dunno why not. Frankly I was surprised Savage took the chance on the 17WSM.

I would think if anybody was likely to do it it would be Savage. They already have the delayed blowback system. I assume the 5mm would be similar. Maybe we need to start an email campaign!😁😁

Surely the Ruger 17 wsm would be a candidate for a conversion to 5mm, now one of you switched on fellas jump on this and let me know how it goes

A break action is the perfect action for the 5mm, since the rim is fully enclosed on the thin case. TC Contenders are pricey, unless you already own one in another caliber.

I keep coming back to that Henri break action, its a nice looking rifle.

Lowell mentioned to me on another forum about "stubbing"barrels this is a possibility but I guess to covert the centrefire to rimfire on the action would be a big deal. Might run it past a smith

I just wish somebody would take a chance. Savage did with the semi-auto 17HMR, even when others tried and eventually quit. It would really be nice.
