Constant 50yr old Savage 67VR problem....

As described for all these yrs I've had problems bending/breaking the "operating handle bar". I've got it tore down again and will take a "very" serious look at it again to see whats causing the problem. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

I found a good video about the exact opposite issue, but he shows how that release lever works and where the springs should be. It could be that since it is so close to the stock, it might be in a bind there?? Anyway, this video is good a clear and he shows close up pics of how the parts should be looking.

That's definitely a different problem. There is no stock anywhere near the action parts.
The part is #53 on Numrich

If I could get it in my hands I could figure it out.

Well I'm the original owner, and today I'm hand fitting and polishing all the parts. I think the issue is with the hardness of part #53 but we'll see.

It's all back together now. I really didn't find anything in particular but instead what I would say are minor. I did buy a new "operating handle bar" but not get it heat treated, if it fails again I'll p/u a couple more and have that done.
