I havent personally done any recoil spring experiments for this gun but online research has indicated any of the blowback 1911ish 22s are very touchy about the spring weight. My experience with coil springs is that making a given weight spring is a very touchy thing and that many are not at all what they are said to be. With much larger springs (valves, clutch and shock) I once made a rig to test the 'weight' at different compression distances. They were bad enough and as a spring gets smaller the variations get more touchy.

They are also touchy when it comes to the mainspring weight, and that is why I have a Wolff 19# spring on my 1911/Ciener conversion instead of the 23# .45 spring. After all, they are just light aluminum alloy slides with not as much mass/weight for a blowback gun.

I have recoil springs from CWA and Taylor Tactical plus the stock GSG springs and kept switching them out till one of them worked.
Finding the right recoil spring for a 1911 45 is the same process.

OK, I have to get this right. The recoil spring is the one in the slide/barrel assembly.

The mainspring/hammer spring is in the MSH to the rear of the frame.

Which one are you folks referring to?

Strange thing happened yesterday on my trip to the range with the GSG. I couldn't get a magazine to seat. None would so I didn't get to shoot that gun. Fortunately I've learned to always take 2 guns to the range.

When I got home I tried to figure it out but couldn't. I took it down to the bare frame and still had the problem with magazines not wanting to go in more than 2 inches. Finally I gave up and called ATI. They sent me a form letter to fill out and they would get back to me.

I figured that was going to take a few days but I got an e-mail about 30 minutes later explaining the Fed Ex label they'd send me and now it's all boxed up and going back to the mothership for repair.

I had done a few modifications and all had to be removed and I had to put all the original parts back on. Good thing I kept them all.

Had that happen once (different gun) when I took the wrong mags.....
If you had just run on over with it Im sure we could have fixed it here.

My 1911-22 is a Desert Eagle 1911G with a Sig 22lr conversion slide and various TK goodies. The 1911 in 45acp was having ejection issues (sending brass into the next county). Replaced factory main spring with a Wolff 23lb, flat bottom firing pin stop and a 14lb recoil spring and every thing is fine. With the Sig conversion, CCI Mini-Mag and SV, SK Std+, and Norma Match function perfectly, the only problem I had was with SK Pistol Match, it stove piped. Really happy that the pistol works with the JMB designed 23lb main spring.

Played with mine a bit ago so I took a look up inside....until the magazine release lug (moves with the outside release button) I see nothing that should have stuck your mags unless you had maybe a grip screw too long intruding inside. If that were the case it would sure be a shame to send it in.

I took it down to a bare frame and still had the issue with the magazines. Since I couldn't figure it out I sent it back. Should have in in 4 - 6 weeks so for the interim I'll be shooting my Mamba.

After shooting a few hundred HV rounds mine is feeding the SV fine. I keep it wet with Balistol.
