Well, this is a 22Mag thread....if only the fan-boyz can tell their experiences and opinions and those of us with less than stellar accounts arent supposed to respond it wouldnt mean much.

The proof is in the shootin', A51G, glad yours worked out
I had a custom varminter Win.1885 low wall with a Win. 52 heavy barrel chambered 22Mag, sgl.set trigger with a modern scope. It was, at best, a 1moa rifle from time to time, pretty much a dependable 1.25-1.5moa.
Wish I would have done it in 22LR first to establish a baseline.....
Some may argue that the 52 barrel was not a correct bore/groove for the mag but I contend that a bit tighter bore is less a detriment than one a bit loose.

Opinions

Near as I can tell, all opinions are welcome on this BB. Having differing ideas and opinions to consider definitely make this more interesting! Sometimes keeping an open mind can be difficult but will usually lead to an opportunity to learn something!

I agree and I didn't mean it in a negative way, all opinions are welcome. Just stating an observation I've been seeing as of late. Didn't mean to offend anyone.

I have several sub-moa rifles, but a 22 mag isn't one of them. That said, my favorite gun to shoot is a Winchester 9422M magnum. That gun shoots consistent sub-2" 100 meter groups, with peep sights, and it always puts a smile on my face.

My 452 Varmint in 22 mag will cloverleaf the 34 grain Winchester supreme at 50 yards and does well with 30 grain ammo. The 40s seem much more erratic when it comes to accuracy. I wish Winchester would put out more of their 200 round value packs like they did around 2000 using this bullet. That was before I had a magnum and before the 17hmr cut into 22 magnum sales volume. Then they started packaging it in a fancy black box and calling it "supreme". I think there just isn't enough demand for 22 mag now for the makers to care about consistent 22 mag ammo. I mostly shoot 17s at varmint these days. Accuracy is much more dependable and trajectory is much flatter. I bet the 17hmr sales volume is many times that of the 22 magnum and is probably cheaper to produce with the lighter bullets too.

Yeah, but you don't understand if some here aren't happy with something everyone else is supposed to be unhappy too.

It is absolutely as accurate as any other ammo in its class. IMHO, it started when the 17HRM was introduced. I sense a deliberate campaign to disparage the 22mag. It is very very very very important to hype up your favorite new round or it will end up like 6mm rim fire or 17 LR what-ever. It was a flat out campaign of lies. It gets repeated.

How about 2" at 50 yards with a ruger, and I got the same exact gun that does 1/2 inch. Big surprise, another Ruger lemon. Then the guys bench resting off a folding table. If anyone reported these bad results with any other rimfire, he/she would get a lot of advise. Oh, never mind, it is a 22mag.

I'd still like to see all those sub-moa 22wmr's shoot the whole box for score, at 100 yards.

Y'all could enter the CZ 100 yard challenge and show us how it should be done.

What? Instigator?

Yes, I know, I'm an annoying old coot who can't leave well enough alone.

I dont shoot my 22mag like that. I zero at 100 and note my accuracy with a few loads and call it done. I dont bang away with my centerfires 50 rounds a day on paper either. Maybe you get some else to take the challenge. I expect to see a control sample. Ie shoot two guns and two calibers side by side. To me it makes no difference, I know what I have.

I would like to hear back from the OP. He was told about RWS ammo. Did he ever respond?

FB, the RWS 22wmr in JSP and FMJ is bulk ammo.
A dollar a cartridge and it's bulk hunting ammo.
240 to 270 fps ES. Yes, I bought it and tried it.
I'd rather use Winchester 40 grain CPHP.

I missed that. Actually, now I think about it, I may have read that and forgot. It happens often. I guess we will have to settle for out 1moa shooting.

I notice you like to come over here and crap all over anyone who does well with the 22mag. Do you do the same when some reports good results on the other caliber specific forum? Really, who needs it? There are guns and rounds that would not take as a gift. I simply dont go to those forums.

Relax FB, less than a month and I'm done.
I'll be out of y'er hair and will no longer be trying to get folks to actually back up their claims.
I'll have tried all the 22lr, 22wmr, 17wsm and 17 hmr available, across a chronograph.
Something most won't or can't afford to do.
I don't offer a comment without actually using something first.
Hence, when I see something that doesn't match my experiences, I question those posted claims.
When asked to substantiate those claims, none are willing to take the time
or spend the 10 or 15 bucks it would cost. Easy enough to do so, yet it doesn't happen.
No problem sending a couple hundred rounds of 22lr, but 50 rounds of 22wmr is too expensive?
Makes me wonder as to the veracity of all those claims.

Y'er right FB...I don't belong here any more.
Too much talk, not enough willingness to back it up.
