BSA's accuracy standard for the Mk 2 was three ten shot groups at 100 yards, all under 1in. For the Mk 3, 4, and 5 it was four (or five) groups averaging 0.75in, with no group over 1.0in.

That said, the Mk 2 can certainly shoot very well. The first maximum 400 point Dewar score (20 shots each at 50 and 100 prone w sling and apertures) on the current British targets was shot with a Mk 2.

Practically the Mk 5 has a straight cheekpiece, and I think the trigger adjusts slightly lighter. The aluminium fore-end strut may be more stable than the Mk 2's solid wood in humid weather.

Overall, the Mk2 is IMO more nicely built, as by the time of the Mk 5 BSA had adopted more modern manufacturing processes to remain competitive.

Buy the Mk V as they are not seen often. You won't regret it.
