BRN-22 build

Hi I’m Chris. Just ordered a BRN-22 receiver for my first 10/22 build. Just discovered this page while searching for reviews on the Titan 1022 stock. Is anybody using the BRN-22 in a Titan 1022 stock? If so, how is the fit?

Thanks
Chris

Another post that should have been posted to facebook/twitter. Why do you people ask advice about something you have already purchased??

ccbrown71,

I recently put together a new 10/22 using a BRN-22 receiver. I asked the same question about the Titan stock but I guess no one has one in a Titan. I went with a Magpul X22 stock because I bought one off a friend at a real good price. The BRN-22 is very nice and snug on my Magpul stock.

Chris, the Titan is a good functional design, some need a bit of work. I have 2 BRN-22 receivers, and I have a Titan stock, also a Magpul X22. The Titan I was shipped is going to require full bedding, with the Magpul I got lucky, it shoots sub MOA with nothing more than 2" long strip of .030 sheet rubber just forward of the V-block and 2 strips of 'temporary' painters tape at the rear. (GM .920 Bbl) The Brownells receiver was near drop-in but the "lugs" front of the magwell required light stock filing where they first enter the stock as you drop it down in, part of that is I have a tight trigger housing but the fit is fine other than that. The Victor has up and down play in the rear, with the receiver screwed in to 30 In Lbs the rear of the bare receiver is .040 off 'bottom'. (with both Ruger and BRN22 receivers) Also a fair bit of side to side play at .015. I go back quite a few decades where EVERYTHING needed to be bedded, so no big deal, the Titan just waits until I finish another project. If you are handy and can bed, I would say go for the titan. If not the Magpul would be closer to turn-key. Hint: you will end up with 2 more stocks anyway, get both.

Thank you for that answer. I recently bought a BRN-22 heavy barreled receiver and am now doing the research on what stock to put it in. Did you do any bedding or did you just drop it in?

Just dropped it in. I painted my BRN receiver and now it even more snug. I'm thinking about installing a pillar cause it looks like there's not much of a shelf for the screw to tighten against.
