If you had a choice to pick the best attributes of existing guns and mash them up to create the perfect platform for the WSM. What would your blend be? Im thinking Lilja sundberg taper barrel fluted. . Sako Quad style barrel mounting. Round action 700 sa Remington footprint. Milled and lightened. with machined bases. 3 lug mid bolt locking lugs. 60 degree lift. Jewel 700 trigger arrangement. Magazine ? Maybe a modified 22 hornet Kimber 82?

Trav...maybe take an old Cooper 36/38 in .22 Hornet or CCM and have it re-barreled.

Yeah, extra heavy firing pin spring and go for it.

I have been waiting for something like this for years now and until someone makes one I am keeping my money in my pocket. Excited about the round and don't care for the rifles out there so far. Savage could have hit a home run if they would have made there new rifle look like their top of the line rifle of yester year:

when I first heard of the 17WSM round I had visions of what this new super fast rifle would look like...I thought it was for the guy who already had all the other calibers and wanted the icing on the cake...something like their Savage Classic 93 rifles I already had and that would had done well in my eyes...but we did not get that at all.

For me (biased opinion for sure) My CZ 527 in 17 Hornet does a good job overall. Design, quality, and performance are very much to my liking. Maybe alter the magazine to a flush mount would be a tad more pleasing to the eye. Or one could pick from the 204 Ruger, 221 Fireball, 22 Hornet, or 222 Rem calibers based on requirements.

17WSM

How about a Vudoo action with 20" sporter profile match grade bbl and a Timney trigger all fitted to a Rem 700 chassis with a 6-24x scope. Bingo. Anschutz MPR would work too.

You can put me on the list for one of those, except I want mine with a little heavier contour barrel.
