Bullet choices for 17 Remington

I recently acquired a cz 527 in 17 Remington and man I am loving it! The first outing I loaded up some 25 grain Berger FB with some power pro 2000mr and it shot great. Sub half inch at 100 yards. While the accuracy pleased me the bc of the Berger’s does not. I’ve already looked around and it looks like vmax’s are about it in terms of bullets with a good bc at a decent price. Apparently nosler has dropped the ball on the .17 varmageddon bullets seeing as though they are out of stock with no back order everywhere I have looked. I’ve heard of some custom makers making 30+ grain offerings but the only one I have found to still be making bullets is reeds ammo. While his bullets look good they are pricy even for custom bullets, 8 cents more expensive per bullet than hand swaged benchrest bullets I shoot in .22 cal. I heard Sierra is gonna produce a 17 caliber bullet, but I haven’t heard much else on that subject. I would be one of the first in line to buy some if they did. I wish more manufacturers would enter what seems like a starving market. Anyone know any good options I haven’t mentioned?

17 cal bullets

Another 17 cal bullet maker is http://www.blackholebullets.com/services.html
Haven't used any yet, however I did place an order with them last week. So far the problem I'm running into on the custom makers, is they seem to stop making the ones I like to use. Kindler stopped making 17 cal bullets, loved the boat tail 25gr golds, then Hornady stopped making the 25gr flat base. Moved up to the 26 gr rbbt Reeds, https://shop.reedsammo.com/17-Cal-Bullets_c278.htm which they show back ordered now and guess I'll try the Blackhole bullets. If you find something you like stock up.

Discontinuation seems to be the theme of 17 caliber for sure. I have a lead on enough 25 grain Bergerís to outlast this barrel at a great price, maybe I should just stick with those. That is until We see what Sierra has up their sleeve.

Had not heard anything about Sierra getting into the 17 cal, would be nice if they did come out 25gr and 30gr sp or hp.

When I had my .17 Rem I always loaded the Hornady 25 gr hollow points. Just checked and they still make the .17's in 15.5 gr, 20 gr, and 25 gr in the Vmax, which should all be very effective within the .17's range.
