Silhouette Paper Targets

Does anyone have a website link where I can print off "to scale" the chicken, pig, turkey, and ram? Either 1/5 sc or 1/2 sc? Or a link where I could purchase paper "scale" targets?

Internet search was fruitless.

Thank you.

I am very disappointed to see that the links that once took me to printable scaled smallbore silhouette targets on the NRA's own website are now defunct and take me to their home page. I finally find a search box but it gives me zero results on a search for the targets. I guess their site has been "improved."

Here is a link to targets hosted here at RFC scaled for use at 25 and 50 yards but I don't think that is what you are after:

Thank you Sophia. That is better than what I have, which is nothing. And will actually enjoy at 25 and 50 yds. since it is just me on a piece of ground. Not aware of any clubs or matches in my area.

80X80 -- I had seen that website, and printed a page off, then saw the instructions on the site regarding the targets that said, "These Jpeg files will need to be scaled with a photo editor to print the correct size as shown in the table below." Don't have a photo editor program.

My quick story -- late 50s, 2 kids in college, so not an unlimited budget. Have a few accurate 10/22s, now want a bolt action. And think my personality would enjoy silhouette steel even if starting with an accurate 10/22.

After searching RFC and watching YouTube, I am wanting to find paper targets in the "actual size", place them at appropriate distances and try my hand. If I have to, purchase 4 of the 1/5sc ($30) and trace them on paper to make my own paper targets, prior to spending $$ on steel targets and a bolt action. My budget would lean to a CZ 452 or 455 as a beginner. Would love to afford an Anschutz one day.

Thank you Sophia and 80X80 for your replies and willingness to help.

Those steel targets are pretty pricey.

What I use for practice is a set of 2" swingers set at 50 yards. They are slightly larger than the chickens but at 50 yards they are also slightly further away.

The advantage of paper is being able to see where your misses go and where on the target you are actually hitting as an aide to necessary corrections. But I like the swingers as I can get in lots of shooting without lots of walking.

It's a challenging sport. I think you'll enjoy it.

I have this set of paper targets that has been floating around the web a while. Download them to your own computer and print off what you need. Make sure the printer is set for "full size" or "100%" and not "adjust to fit" or anything like that.

EDIT to add:

Stumbled across this page which appears to have some downloadable targets as well... http://www.sunnyvalegunclub.com/acti...ouette#Targets

I use the swingers at 40 yards. It seems rimfire silhouette, and maybe all silhouette, is on the decline. I am not good enough to finish high, but; matches would be a way to encourage practice and have a social aspect.

I noticed years ago, shooting paper targets, that my iron sight settings weren't consistent. Seemed like the black target on a white piece of paper looked different to my eyes than a black silhouette with the normal berm behind it. I then tried using normal size cardboard cutouts, painted black, mounted on stakes and that worked better, though they didn't last long and I got tired of patching all the holes with black electrician's tape.

Finally went to the silhouette swingers for all distances and never had a problem with consistency after that. Of course, a spotter is nice to tell you where your misses are going.

WINNER, WINNER! STEEL CHICKEN DINNER!

Special thanks to acorneau for the downloadable targets link. Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you all for your contribution.

Seems like a very fun game. Thanks again for your help.

I use the ones from the address below. A3 or A4 size pick your range for the target scale and print away.

Here is a website that has various sized silhouettes on paper. I believe the larger targets are half size. Unfortunately, the animals are orange. I wish they had either white in black or black on white. Orange must ha e been a cheaper ink to print. Oh well...

I should mention that the silhouette targets are at the bottom of the web page. Lot of scrolling to find them.

FWIW These have lasted a long time: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GP4O8UI/ Not as inexpensive as paper, but given the service that we've gotten out of them I think they are very fairly priced. They're in need of a new coat of flat black paint. Should have my wife do that since she's the one who shoots them.

scaled silhouette targets

I would would like to participate in the rimfire offhand silhouette matches. However, the rules at my club range do not allow short shooting (not being able to place targets short of the berm.) The range has 25 yds, 50 yds and 100 yds available.

Does anyone have scaled targets so that all of the targets can be placed at the same distance (probably 50 or 100yds) ?

Thanks,

Tim (talon99)
