That's great news. The revolver should be good to go then. Very happy for you. Congratulations. As far as the truck goes, if it was a four wheel drive I am sure that you had a little fun getting it out.

I think most of the USA this year has doubled if not tripled their rain fall this year. Here in Kentucky it has rained almost the whole years over doubling our rain total. Sunny today but my private range is like a swamp right now. Really muddy.

Do you guys know where to find DS 10 speed loaders? I did a quick search and only found one place that was out of stock.

Did you check this site?

http://www.twotandogs.com/index.html

I bought mine direct when they first came out, but it doesn't look like that's an option these days.

Thanks for the info. I was unable to add them to my shopping cart. Iím not sure if the website is working properly so I sent an email. There are a few different models for the 617. Do you have a preference?

2011ERIC, congratulations on your new 617 revolver! I owned a 6 inch 617 no dash and several years later foolishly sold it. Didn't take me long to realize my mistake and later picked up a LNIB 4 inch 617-1. Personally, I liked shooting the 6 inch model the best, but I have grand children that like to shoot with me and the 4 incher works better for them. I put a set of Hogue wood round to square conversion grips on mine and really like them.

Just letting you know that the forcing cone in my 617 looks very similar to the pictures of yours, and mine does not have any spitting issues and is very accurate, shoots much better than I can hold it. Enjoy your 617, they are a beautiful revolver that is a pleasure to own and shoot.

Couldn't find the address, I had it somewhere. Dave is a good guy. I have the first generation with the nut on the back and a loading block.

I received my 617 back from S&W today. The paper work says they cut forcing cone and replaced the hammer. The forcing cone was to deal with spitting and the hammer was to deal with the terrible single action trigger release. The trigger is better, about what I expect for an off the shelf revolver, the forcing cone still looks quite rough, certainly not polished. I'll shoot it this weekend and see how it works.

Shot it today, spitting is reduced but still noticeable, of course I'm looking for it now. Accuracy seems ok, I'm not the best judge.
Single action trigger pull is too heavy, but much crisper than it was.

I, unfortunately, havenít been able to shoot mine much lately. My mother-n-law has been very ill and has my wife and I traveling a good bit. Hopefully within the next couple of weeks things will slow down and allow me to do some shooting. Iím going to install a Vortex Venom and a set of wood grips in the near future. I hate waiting but thatís life I reckon.

The thing that cut my 617 groups in half was to mount a red dot sight on it. Sad to say, I am not that great a shot with open sights, although I am working on it.

Here's the 617 along with its big brother in .357.

Here are some targets with 617 and the red dot. 15 yards, off a Hyskore Y style rest (inner red squares are one inch):

My groups with iron sights are two or three times larger.

Nice shooting flangster. Beautiful pistol too! I used to be fairly proficient with irons but as Iíve gotten older, I value red dot sights tremendously.
