Small changers to my FrankenRuger

I decided to change sights from my C-Moe 12 minute dot to a Vortex Venom with 5 minute. I also added Herrett Stocks. Other accessories are a Bill Striplin Thumb Rest and Extended Safety, Volquartsen Accurizing Kit and Tandemkross Victory Trigger.

I switched to the Vortex because batteries are supposed to last a year. I have to change the batteries in my C-More every few weeks. The window is closer to the bore and the sight is much lighter.

It's a nail driver using a variety of ammo but in particular Elex Standard and CCI-SV. I've also had good luck with CCI-Blazer. This is my Go-To-Gun for Steel Challenge Matches.

Like the grips. Do you leave your C-more on full time during matches? I haven't changed the battery in either of my Railway's in over a year.

No, I turn it off between stages. I have 3 C-Mores and they all dissipate the batteries the same way.

I heard that older diodes suck battery life more than current ones?

I wonder if the larger MOA drain any more than the smaller. No idea why that would matter one way or another, but still kind of wonder. I've got two 8MOA modules and a 2MOA.

I,m not sure when the revision occurred or if there was only one but "newer" dot modules are more efficient and have a longer battery life. Doesn't matter what the dot size is.
I adjust the dot at the first stage and don't turn it off 'til the last stage has been shot. When I remember. I usually check them when I get home but they survive being on for a week or two with no ill effects unless it was an old battery to start with.
Battery quality seems to matter more. I buy them on e-bay and only the singles in the retail packaging. Card with a bubble like you see on racks in stores. They have lasted the longest. The bulk ones I was getting in the individual zip locks (and the dog collar ones) wouldn't last. Even the ones that showed 3.2 V fresh out of the package.

Do Over

Mr. AZ, if you had it to do over, would you just buy a VC Scorp. or
stay with the Ruger 22/45 lower?

I like the 22/45 angle so I'd do it all over again. I enjoy tinkering. If you don't just get the Scorpion.

VQ now calls the build on the 22/45 the Black Mamba. They at this time have no intention of making them but you can build one.

Making their 22/45 Black Mamba or one off of a Standard MKIV Frame? Because they just made a boatload of the 22/45 based guns to market.
