Kudos on this write-up. cleaned my uncle's old 56-22 this weekend.

Note to others... the top exposed safety spring shown in step 10.... this is the worst "launcher" out of the bunch in this thing.

Don't bother putting it back on in reassembly until you are ready to put the safety cover plate back.

**** thing wouldn't stay put until i had that plate on...

56 overhaul

Nice job Man, you should make this into a Book, I'd Buy a Copy.
We had bought a 56 off Gun Broker, looked real nice from the Photos, got it home and it wouldn't feed, the old dry fire too many times trick. After a short trip to the Local Gun Smith all is well now. Anyway if you decide to Publish this Instruction Manual put me down for a Copy.

Does any one know the total length of an Original Firing Pin. By the looks of the picture I'm not sure my pin sticks out that far.
