Post Ballistics/general Info

The science of ballistics is a fascinating one and some here may wish to do a little dabbling to find out more. Competitive shooters, of course, see the study of ballistics through "microscopic eyes" and take their study very seriously.

For the curious, I have listed below some websites that deal specifically with firearms ballistics, terms encountered, available software to do ones own ballistics research, and so forth. Some are more detailed than others and, this list is not all-inclusive as there is plenty more additional information out there to be had, including the various texts on the subject. One (or possibly more) in this list is/are in the form of a .pdf file which would, of course, require a free downloading of Adobe's Reader--available at Adobe's website. I believe the latest version of Adobe's Reader is 6.0. Also, I'd like to add that the listings below are not in alphabetical order. And now the list:

On the above site, click on "Ballistics/sighting in"

The last listing above, if you click on "Exterior Ballistics" in the upper left-hand corner of the page, will present a listing of articles such as, "Deflections and Drift of a Bullet in a Crosswind," etc. This listing (above) as well as the other articles shown on the same page below it, are in the form of .pdf files and, thus, require the Adobe Reader to read each of these files. The site does, however, offer a lot of good ballistics information for the curious.

For info on the use of ballistics gelatin, see:

For muzzleloading ballistics, see:

For shotshell/shotgun info:

For air gun ballistics & other related info:

For a book on air gun ballistics, see:

For archery ballistics, see sites below:

For reading material on firearms ballistics, see the three sites below:

Firearms/shooting, of a more general nature, see:

Ammo & Reloading (General), see:

And for some of the more "light-hearted" shooters out there, see:

I hope the above will prove useful to some, if not entertaining as well. HAPPY SHOOTING!
