You fellers are doing good!

Very nice, Greg! I got out yesterday for a while and nailed a couple, too. .17 WSM 20gr are sure hard on their heads!

I had a lot of misfires that cost me my limit. Older WSM ammo is the pits!

I have killed a few this year. I was even in a contest for a while but finished a distant second to a feller who can stand toe to toe and slug it out with 22 man. So you know he is outstanding. He teaches military sniper school.

From August 24 through Sept. 14 he killed 154 squirrels in 14 days of hunting. That is an Average of 11 per day. He killed an arkansas limit of 12 squirrels 9 times. He killed 8 twice and 9, 10 and 11 one time each. That is what Donnie means by putting on a clinic.

Reb, Sounds like he is a great hunter just to get into that many squirrels. Just from the numbers, I would imagine he doesn't miss very much. I got 9 on Saturday, but I had to shoot 10 times because the last squirrel I missed on the first shot but then got him on the second shot. I know most guys don't care how many shots they fire, but for me it is a game of seeking perfection. Methinks your sniper friend sees it that way too.

Uh Oh, sounds like someone is afraid there's a new sheriff in town! That's a joke and not really a good one since I don't see hunting as a competitive sport; that is competitive between hunters--I see the real competition between the hunter and the prey. I know 22man isn't serious about calling the game warden--but it shows he thinks this sniper is respectable in his craft.

Thats one heck of a feat.... Thats time in the woods and certainly some pretty darn good shooting. I assume the hunting was done in AR and perhaps MO where squirrels are king.....

Our daily bag here in Illinois is 6 per day. I must admit when squirrel hunting I generally go into a much more pronounced stalk and stealth mode much like deer hunting when I am moving around. I usually dont need to move much once I get settled but its stealthy as I can when I do it.

Alabama bag limit is 8; it has been years since I've even seen 8 in a day much less got to shoot that many. I'd have a stroke if I encountered numbers like those!

Sorry Squirrelbark but there are several of us who has always enjoyed a friendly competition in the squirrel woods, I was raised on it, if you ever get a chance go back thur the years of this thread and read you will find out that when I was younger hunting with my uncles the one who killed the least had to skin all the squirrels Several years ago there was a gentleman from Illinois that sent me tons of PMs about calling the MO game warden on me because I killed to many squirrels. Here is a few pictures of some of the best that when we get together it is a friendly competition

I getcha, 22man. Your kind of competition is good-natured and brings out the best in everyone. And I there's probably a lot of mutual helping going on as well. But it has to feel good to come back to the truck with the most squirrels.

What a blessing it is to live in a place where you have good hunting spots where friends can hunt with you. Some of the strips of woods I hunt here in NE Arkansas are so small that there's not room for more than one or two hunters. I call them: "See Through Woods" because as soon as you get into them you are already on your way out of them if ya walk a straight line. I long for the days I had when I actually hunted woods big enough to get lost in.
