That is such a beautiful rifle...I would think that squirrels would just stop and stare at it in awe!

Excuse my ignorance but was your stock blank sealed at the ends? It certainly looks to have been stored properly. I'm curious because I sometimes run across nice looking walnut blanks and want to make a smart purchase. The figure/feathering in that stock is amazing and really compliments the engraving of the rifle.

Yes the set was sealed with a thick coat of something. The wood survived 37 years in a basement and Leroy found no problems when shaping it, so must have been effective !
