October 2019 CZ/BRNO Open Sight 25 Yard Rimfire Central Online Benchrest Match

Log in to see fewer ads
Guidelines:

CZ or BRNO open sighted sporters Ė less than or equal to 8.5 lbs when weighed with the magazine removed Ė any safe trigger Ė CZ factory open sights only (no optics, peeps, ghost rings, apertures, or receiver sights allowed).

No aftermarket barrels or stocks ó only CZ's original stocks and barrels. It is also prohibited to swap the stocks of different CZ models such as taking the stock from a Varmint and putting it on a Trainer. If one has damaged his/her original CZ stock, they may order the same exact factory replacement stock for their specific model. There are other BR games on RFC for dramatically altered rifles. We are trying to encourage competition with unmodified or minimally modified open-sighted CZ sporters. No aftermarket barrels or stocks ó only CZ's original stocks and barrels. As to custom stock bedding performed on a factory stock, no compound-bedding allowed, pillared or non, and plain pillar bedding is prohibited as well.

Target is either the A-23/5 or the A-23/5R (shooter's preference)

22 long rifle

Fired from a benchrest using front and rear support, must be free recoiling (no gun vises), but a bi-pod is fine if the shooter prefers.

Distance to target is 25 yards

Time limit - 1 hour for unlimited sighters at the top bull and 20 rounds for score at bulls #1, #2, #3, and #4 (five rounds at each).

You can shoot on an indoor range if it is your only option, but please report that fact in your post.

You can post multiple targets if each is fired with a different CZ. For example, a shooter could post one with her CZ FS and another with her CZ Trainer. You may shoot up to FOUR targets with EACH rifle and post the highest score fired with each one.

Post a pic of your target (required) and the equipment you used (optional) in this thread by October 31, 2019.

Honor system, and we couldn't ask for a more honorable bunch.

A spotting scope will be most helpful in determining hits and misses as you are shooting, but it is not required. Binoculars or a scoped rifle laying to the side can be used to spot as well.

Wind flags are fine. I usually tie a piece of bright streamer or the like to a hammered-in stake.

*Use this format to post your score(s):

10/22/2019
200-14X
Hootie McCoy
CZ 452 Trainer, SK Magazine
Caldwell front rest and rear bag
Light winds and temps in the 60s

* This way I can simply save and insert your scores to the final results post at the end of the month. Thanks.

Two new medical issues

Hey guys,

Its been a few months since I posted in either the open sight or scoped sight forums. Usually I'm one of the first to post a target. Back in June I started having trouble breathing and after a few tests my Doc says I have COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), hot humid weather in NW Fl. curtailed most of my outdoor activities. After having another ex-ray and cat scan, she discovered I had cancer in my right lung. I started chemotherapy on Sept. 5th and only have two more weekly sessions to go. I started daily radiation treatments on Sept. 30th and will finish them on Nov. 3rd. Hopefully, I will be able to be back shooting the week of Nov.11th.

Sorry to hear this, my friend. May the good Lord surround you with his angels and warriors as you face this health challenge.

All the best,

Ted , hope all goes well and you heal quickly. Prayers sent .

Got a chance to shoot a couple of rounds this morning with one of my CZ 452 Trainers .
Seems I can usually manage two good targets per four consecutive bulls I shoot . The eyes wonít stay clear enough all the way through 20 shots . The shots in the 9 rings werenít the rifle or ammo , although we did have a gusty wind occasionally, I donít think it was wind either.
The sight picture looked the same each time , but the results didnít match . .
I always enjoy shooting open sights .

My other targets I shot today scored a 194-5x but had a sweet five shot group on target #3 . I know itís not even a 50 , but I love the five shot group with open sights .

New Guy -

With the opening of a new range I finally have a safe, nearby place to try my hand at the CZ on line matches. Here is my third try at the open sight target.

10/16/19
Dunlop
197 6X
CZ 452 Lux (LH), CMP Eley Standard
Caldwell Rock BR, Protektor rear bag
Light Breeze, Sunny in the low 60's

I would be grateful for feedback on whether I have posted this correctly and scored the target correctly. That high round on target 3 looked like it caught the edge using a scoring plug.

I am looking forward to trying the other matches, but it looks like I have some serious practicing to do before I can post a decent score on the "green monster."

Thanks to Mr. Creasy for organizing the match and best wishes for a speedy recovery to Mr. Tomcat21.

Appreciate your prayers, Bob. I thought today would be my last Chemo treatment, but was kind of shocked when the nurse said see you next Thursday, turns out they upped my Chemo treatments to match my Radiation treatments, so 3 more weekly
Chemo sessions and 17 more daily Radiation sessions, Nov. 7th being last of my treatments. I'm going to give myself some time to regain some stamina, looking at Nov. 20th for a trip to the range. Still have most of my hair on my head.......

Good shooting everyone, welcome aboard Dunlop, happy you joined us.......
