October 2019

77/100, FWB 603, Gehman rear with adjustable iris, FWB front w/adj. Iris. RWS Diabolo basic pellets.
I never have been able to shoot this gun as well as my Anschutz. Going to the Gehman rear sight seems to have helped. 77 is a good score for me. Same as my birthday coming up.

Shot a 76 today with H&N match pistol and a 75 with Vogel Merlin Match. Hopefully the hex is off this rifle.

Decent day in the basement.
84 / 100
Daisy 853C RWS basic pellets A-17 target
Just installed a new Daisy sight, the next level up from the standard 853 sight. Seems like a nice sight and worth the money. Ordered it right from Daisy.

Thanks.

I have them at the second-highest setting which, according to the manual, is 55.1mm. I have had them at the highest, or 60mm (the max allowed by the ISSF).

If I shot only standing with this rifle, I would keep them at 60mm., but I shoot 4-P so I am trying a middle way. This adjustable sight riser design was a major factor in my decision to purchase this rifle.

Brian

In the olden days we took BB guns to war...

In the olden days, we took our trusty BB guns to war. Our only safety rule was head shots were not allowed. I think we were ages 7 - 12 and snuck through the woods developing stealth and surprise. Parents wondered why we wore heavy clothing in the summer.

As to hunting with our BB guns, we did kill a small bird or two, but very soon felt bad about doing so. Ants, grasshoppers, wasps etc. became our prey. One year we had Tent Caterpillars and they would be silhouetted on a leaf up in the tree. A BB shot through the leaf would get them, confirmation being the green drippings. One advantage we had over real hunters is that we never had to field dress our game, nor drag anything out of the woods.

Me too David. One day Tom showed up with a Marksman, looked a bit like a 1911, shot pellets, BB and darts. All we had were BBs. Light was just right so I saw where his BBs landed. I stood about 5ft further out and beat the devil out of him with my Daisy Eagle. Next time he had his old rifle back. Lots of fun and no real damage done. We did toss plastic models of ships into the creek and sank them. Had a string tied to the boat, retrieved and repaired them. Snakes were fair game and frogs. 60 some years later and I'm back to shooting pellets instead of BBs.

Nice shooting Tom and nice shooting Bberg. That is a fine looking air rifle Bberg. It's been winter here for about a month and a half and I still haven't made it to the garage to shoot one of my air rifles---time is coming though, hunting will be over soon and with daylight savings it's dark by the time I get home---so shooting outside in the evening is not an option for a few months---so the garage looks pretty inviting now.
