These two rifles have similarities and differences. The similarity most salient is the barreled action of each. Both are 64 action repeaters, they have the same 5098 trigger and their barrel length is 21.5" for the MSR and 23" for the SBR.

The most striking difference is the stock. The silhouette rifle has a stippled, flat-bottom narrow forend, while the SBR has a three-inch wide flat bottom forend. The latter is designed for shooting off a front rest with a three inch wide front bag and the former, as a silhouette design, is made for shooting off hand.

The MSR has an accessory rail on the bottom of the forestock, and a stippled pistol grip. Both have adjustable butt pads.

Both barrels are made to the same level of quality and any difference in potential accuracy will lie with the particular barrel in question. In other words, if both are typical, they will have the potential to shoot similarly.

The question is how do you plan to use the rifle? If it's strictly from the bench then the SBR makes more sense.

The SBR

The MSR

I purchased the 1903 MSR. I am very happy with how it shoots. I use it primarily for shooting while standing. It does have a more narrow fore end but purchased this for when shooting off of bags.
