Question Marlin 925m vs 925r: what's the diff?

Log in to see fewer ads
Hi folks, I am new to the forum and this is my first post. I just bought a Marlin 925r from a buddy of mine who only drove it to the store and back.

This rifle has a synthetic stock that I am looking to replace with some nice wood furniture.

My question is: what is the difference between the "r" and the "m"? I am challenged to find any description on each, although, the "m" seems to be more prevalent. I've also seen that "m" stands for magnum.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

THe 925M is 22 magnum with a wooden stock. The 925R is 22lr with a synthetic stock.

That's it, huh?

Is the chambering the only difference? I would love to get a wood stock for my "r".

Numrich doesn't any stocks listed for the 925M, or 925R.

Wondering if a 25N stock would fit your 925R ? Numrich has lots of wood stocks for the 25N.

Yes. All "Top Hat" .22LR short-actions exchange parts...from the 25-series to the XT22's...
install a XT22 trigger system on a 25-N if that floats your boat.
Mostly drop-in, but with all gunsmithing, hand fitting usually required anyway.

The Magnum's also exchange with the other Magnums...from the 25MN to the XT22M's.

So, you're saying I should be able to fit some, or all, of this to my 80, with only minor modification, right?

Roger
