Hornady One Shot Cleaner and Lube

I use a variety of specialty products, but; then I always have one catch all for quick wipe down, maybe coat the bore, general use. Before I mention this, I do use products such as Lucas Extreme oil, Butch's for bad copper and good old Hoppes No9 to clean the bore. Also RIG heavy grease if I anticipate long storage.

The catch all product I have been using is CLP Breakfree. That is based on its use by the US Military. Hose the gun down inside and out and call it good. My bottle ran out and I did some homework. I must be really bored? What I come up with is Hornady OneShot Cleaner and Lube. Not the brass cleaner, a gun lube and storage product.

The tipping point was this test, of 46 products. There is no way for a user like me to ever really know if Ballistol ss MPro-7 vs CLP is really better. I am not going to oil up my guns and store them out doors. There are some surprises. Some I dont believe. But this was a lot of work and it swayed me to try the Hornady product. Opinions?

Hornady One Shot is about as good as it gets as far as a lubricant. Pretty sure there's a few threads here dedicated just to it.

Good as it gets. That is what I was hoping to hear, or asking.

I got a aerosol can today. After the soap and hot water, I sprayed down a black powder rifle. I know it must be good but I am not ready to cut the cord yet. CLP has a good heavy consistency. The Hornady went on very thin.

Apparently the Hornady is aerosol can only. That will be expensive. I plan to get another bottle of CLP and easy my way into the Hornady product.

I like to use it in triggers and bolts. Flushes out old lubes and dirt, leaves a dry lubricant and rust resistant coating. Works well for lubing pocketknives too.

That makes sense to me. Sparing and selective use. I bet it does well in the cold. It seems a bit much to do barrels inside and out.

I use it selectively as a lubricant. Not as a cleaner.

I have been Pimpin' HOSDL for years... here is Chuck Hawks :

https://www.chuckhawks.com/hornady_one_shot2.html

I'm more bored than you I guess because I use the Hornady on all Metal to Metal and found a cheaper version Blaster Dry Lube to doosh/flood/blast tight spots.. I'm convinced HOSDL is my go-to for the best choice in most of my weapons as a lube and metal protector.

It is a little too expensive to use a a cleaner, although it works well. I clean with other products that work well and then use One Shot as a last step in the clean/lube process. Itís great stuff. Slippery without attracting dirt. Just what the doctor ordered.

Berry berry interesting tests! HOS looks like just the ticket to test in my semis also.

You dont have to worry about oil contaminating a primer in your carry with 1 shot. Only lube I use on guns that stay loaded.
