Saw and handled a Chiappa .22 levergun the other day, for $369 it didn't look bad. What do the experts here know about them? Regards, 021

I've looked at six examples now, and I loathe the sights, and I'm not excited by the wood/metal fit, or metal/metal fit, for that matter. I haven't been able to talk myseif into bending my elbow at the wallet, yet.

I will say that they cycle very, very smoothly, even better than most Henry's I've handled.

The latest offerings, the deluxe models with checkering, pistol-grips, black-chromed receivers, etc, all seem a bit nicer than the CCH "finish" on the standard guns.
All the rifles I've handled have had exceptional trigger pulls, which is always a plus. Still, there are enough things that give me pause, to keep me from spending my money on one just yet.
I might succumb to temptation even yet, but they really need to do something about those coarse, crude sights.

I bought one of the lower end Chiappa LA322 takedown lever actions. No, it's not a Henry, but for the price it cycles well, cleaned it up new, and re-lubed, action is smoother now, trigger is good. Cons, funky front sight mount is plastic, no way to add threads to barrel, or to add a slip over adapter. Rear sight is standard Elk-horn style, I replaced mine with a universal dovetail fiber optic, and put a white dot on back of the stock front blade for visibility, remove the tube for better light.

I bought one last week, the deluxe model I think. Blue/wood with a case color receiver. I thought it was probably a Marlin 39 clone, and externally it is. Internally itís completely different.

Iíll report back after I have a chance to shoot it.

I had one, and I quickly got rid of it. Read the full story here:

Well, I'll give it a try and if it has any problems it can go down the road. Or go back to the place I bought it.
