Boyd's Pro Varmint Stock

I just got this in a few days ago. Out of the box, fit was great, the magazines lock up tight, and it looks and feels way better than the factory. I've glass bedded it and took it out to the range and am happy to report, no flyers and makes sub dime size groups at 50 with CCI A17ammo. I'm not able to get it further yet. Too much wind and weather here in Colorado. I plan to Cerakote the barrel and receiver in Magpul FDE. I'm not digging the shiny blued finish. Here is a before and after.

I need to send them a email and confirm the new Savage A22 will take same stock... Im thinking yes, but dont know enough about these rifles to be positive.

Ill pick one of these up when I get my A22 22 mag Savage. Just cause I also dislike the factory plastic stock.

.17 HMR is just a necked down .22 Magnum. I believe the mags are the same apart from the caliber marking on them to differentiate them.

I refinished the barrel in flat black and added the EGW scope rail. I'm liking it much better.

Looks great! One question though, why didn't you use lower rings? Seems like your scope is a little higher than it needs to be. Can you get a good cheek weld and still see a full view through the scope without lifting your head up a little?

I have a Pro Varmint on my Bmag and with the 40mm w/AO scope I have on it the AO adjuster just clears the barrel and the comb/scope height is perfect.

I was already looking into that. The original pic has been changed, showing the lower rings. The cheek weld is better. Funny how fractions of an inch can make a huge difference!

I agree.

I would really like conformation...

Also the stock. it looks GREAT! I assume it would also fit a A22?

Yessir. I looked at the A22 next to the A17 at the gunstore and they are identical and the magazines will interchange between the rifles (for fit).

So does the A17 Boyd’s classic actually weight 4lbs ?

I like lighter stocks - what does the featherwieght thumbhole weight?
