Here are some pretty clear pictures showing the crack. Not sure what happened to the original pictures I posted. Most rifles will not be this severe, while I have seen others with lug completely broken off. Crack always starts right at the inside corner of lug and propagates out from there.

Pre-A Receiver Crack Stabilization

Steve or anyone else:

Short of welding, is there a good way to stabilize an existing cracked Pre-A receiver?

My opinion? Welding is right way and the only way. Anything else is a band aid.

Much, much better photos. Photobucket is no longer our friend and either 'frosts' the photos or eliminates them.
