When I bought mine, it had the holes in the receiver and my wood is almost identical to the wood on that 75. I always hated the looks of the Weaver bases that came on it, so I got some Leupold gunsmith bases, milled the bottom to fit the receiver, cut them and finished them , and drilled and counterbored them to fit the holes that were already drilled in the action. It looks factory when it was done and makes a good solid mount for a scope.

A friend had his 75 grooved for tip off mounts and the gunsmith cut the grooves right through the Winchester roll stamp on the receiver. Looked like heck, so he sold it and bought a very nice original and clean sporter...

Mine shoots great and carries like a feather compared to my big game rifles, but handles very close to the same...

Post some groups when you have a chance...

Bob

Wow!

The wood on that rifle is just spectacular. This is one rifle I might invest in a good smith to erase those holes.

Super nice find!!! Congratulations
