Yes they have a grooved receiver, I just prefer a rail as I have a large scope ring assortment so I can swap scopes from rifle to rifle easier. The grooved receiver is perfectly fine for a scope set up.

Tried the pump, way to hard to pump bought a lever. Buy the lever, or even better, the CZ 512.

My brother-in-law has a CZ 512. It's a nice gun, but I wasn't impressed with trigger or the look. It also feels kind of odd to me when shouldered. May just be me, but not my cup of tea.

I have a pump in 22lr. Pump action is stiff, although it has loosened up some over time. Also have the SGC lever. I flipped the peep sight around and mounted a scope with see-thru rings so I have both. Extremely accurate with the Federal 50gr.

I have a Frontier, a CZ 512 and a Savage 93 GL left handed bolt action in 22 WMR. All are accurate and fun to shoot. I can't really say that I prefer one over the other. Just different tools.

Pump Action Henry

With the physical problem you have I would suggest an auto loader in 22 mag. CZ 512 makes a good one.

Henry pump magnum

Iíve had a Henry .22mag pump for two years now, accuracy has been great and the action has smoothed out a good bit with use. But the small game sights are really more effective than the buckhorn sights. The action isnít as light as as other rimfire pumps because of itís mechanism but I can still rack off rounds pretty quickly.
If there was a better .22mag pump on the market Iíd have considered it. Iíve shot a Henry .22lr lever and for me I get shots off faster with the pump.

Iíve toyed with scoping my Henry but Iíve already got scopes on my Rem. Speedmaster & Sportmaster. Iíd put money in a good peep sight first, and to me it kind of keeps the Ďfrontierí character of the Henry.

I have a couple 22 mags. The most accurate is the H&R single shot which is sub MOA at 100 yards with Winchester 40 grain. You might also consider the Henry single shot if it is available in 22 mag. I used to have a CZ 527 in 223. 1:12 twist. It would shoot clover leafs at 100 yards with 45 grain but open up to 1" with 55 grain. I currently have a Mossberg MVP sporter weight laminate stock, 1:9 twist, AR mags. It is sub MOA with 55 grain. I have not tried it with 45 grain.

I have the Henry 22LR pump. Like others have said - it has a stiff, short pump cycle; definitely not like the longer, lighter, smoother stroke of a Remington 121 or a Winchester 62. You can't baby the action, and make sure the forearm cross-screw is tight. Mine is pretty accurate, have 4x32 scope mounted. It's a heavy rifle due to the thick octagon barrel, but I've taken it squirrel hunting and it's been ok to tote in the woods.
I'd honestly rather have a very good condition Remington 121 but I got this henry for way way less than you'd pay for a vintage 22 pump, and it fits that nice.
