my $225 452 scout is ready

For the small game hunting season of 2019 in MN.
Bough the rifle in 2008 for $200 bucks + a blemished 452 Varmint stock form CZ in KS $25 bucks.

Has a self mod. trigger with a trigger pull of 2 lbs, stock and action is glass bedded also 1 lb of lead is also bedded in the stock, floated barrel, total weight of set up 7.5 lbs, barrel has been recrowned.
Going to use one of my favorite 10 year old SMG hunting scope, BSA 2-7X32MM AO air rifle scope.
Am going too use CCI Std V ammo this season my CZ Scout & 452 Varmint like it.
Have done some cold weather testing over the years and CCI Std V does very well in cold temps for me and the
CCI std V bullets will be made into semi-wad cutters for hunting.
The CCI semi-wad cutters will look kind of like this.

Now I have not shot this rifle since last spring and did not do any barrel cleaning.
I like a 25 yard zero for my hunting needs where I hunt in MN, most shots are 15 to 35 yards & out too 60 yards.
My 1st 5 shot group on the bottom elk, next 5 shots @ the top elk with an elevation adjustment.

My 3rd 5 shot group with a few more clicks on the elevation.

She is ready too go
Now this rifle does have a cold bore flyers issue from time to time and have learned too deal with it.
Like before I walk too my hunt I load up a magazine and shoot 5 shots into
the dirt....good for the rest of the day.

Nice! Very nice! Those are tiny elk, or do your squirrels have horns?

Thank you.
I think I will be pheasant hunting out of a blind and maybe some cotton tails.

Do have some prime squirrel grounds that my old work buddy has, but I like pheasant or bunny meat better...

Targets look good Swiss. What do you use to make the flat nose on your CCIs?

That mag works good in my daughters 10/22 I built for hunting.

Sometimes she lets me use it for hunting...
That rifle was also sighted in last Sun.

I would jump at a chance to get a crack at a project 452 for $225. I would do it different, but; that is the whole idea behind a project like this. Have it your way

I did do a lot of research on camo to come up with the paint scheme.

Works well in the prairie.

In the woods.

Great lookiing rifle! Great shooting rifle!

I use a Mueller 2x-7x on my 455 American to hunt with. I think for squirrels and rabbits, and most other small game, that's about the ideal magnification range for a 22LR hunting rifle.
