52 C cocking issue

52 C does not always cock when closing the bolt. Lifting the bolt handle as if to pull the bolt back and pushing the bolt forward hard and then dropping the handle seems to work.

This seems to happen more frequently when feeding from a magazine than when loading single rounds, although it does happen with single rounds.

Any suggestions as to what to look for to correct.

Thanks.

Isn't the 52C a cock on opening design?

Normally, when the firing pin bent rides over the trigger as the bolt closes, there isn't enough spring tension or sear engagement for the trigger to compress the firing pin spring as the pin disengages from the cocking cam in the bolt handle. As well as trigger adjustment, a loose trigger mechanism, worn parts, and binding inside the trigger can be the cause.

Number one reason is a dirty trigger assembly. Wash it out thoroughly with a strong solvent such as carb or brake cleaner. Then blow dry.
I would try this first before digging any deeper.
