They already make it - I have one, it requires the usual VQ parts to fix the Ruger triggers, shoots good afterwards.

Perfect?

My original question was just thinking out loud really. I keep saying that I don't like any of the current offerings. I think a Remington 40x (700 footprint) would be perfect for the action. Triggers, stock, and scope mounts would be unlimited and cheap. Mate that with the Sako or CZ barrel swap (read that easy headspace, and barrel modularity) with standard contour options from Lilja and Shilen. You would have a Taylor made to your taste rifle. Someone just needs to build an action. Also wouldn't I be nice if a factory Ruger or Savage magazine would fit? Maybe hide it under a BDL floor plate like Dakota m22s? Hmmmm. I've been thinking about a prototype just for me. Maybe it would be easier to convert a 40x single shot? im just kicking tires here.

How about one of those Remington 547s. I have a few rifles I'd trade for one..
