Howa Maple Stock

This is not a 22, but I thought you guys would like to see my build of this Howa 22/250 stock, I'm building for myself. The action was purchased from Brownells. The wood is three pieces of maple that were glued with Titebond glue. The trim pieces are walnut. This is the sixth Howa rifle, I've built this past year. The atock is pillared and bedded, with an adjustable comb.

Here are pictures, with two coats of Birchwood Casey walnut stain, water base.

I've added a coat of Minwax natural, oil base stain, to seal the wood.

Very nice. Where did you source the maple and what thickness were the planks?

I have a friend that builds top of the line, custom cabinets. It was some lumber he had left over from a job. Itís 3/4 stuff. I laminated the pieces with Titebond glue. The laminate wood should be very stable. I did a 10/22 benchrest stock out of the same lumber, a while back. I think it turned out great.

I have a couple more coats of truoil to apply, but this is what my stock is gonna look like. The butt pad is not installed yet. Thought I better take some pictures, while I'm thinking about it.

Hello
Thanks for checking out my work. The actual color is more like the first picture. Most of the pictures show a little redder than they actually are. The pictures were taken early in the morning, with the soft color of the sun.
