This is my first 39a so bear with me.Currently it has a 1.5x5 scope on it.The scope is mounted to a 3/8 dovetail base.Question is can I mount a William's 54 wgrs to that base?If I could would I need a new front sight?

I have that sight on both of mine , works great . Both mine had to have the front blade replaced to have the rear sight not be absurdly high off the receiver . I also wanted a finer bead . The marbles 50291 front blade with a height of .290 and a 1/16 th inch bead made the rear sight have a better fit for height and also provided a better sight picture for me . Got them from Brownells SKU 597-502-921 . Have fun with the new 39 . WJR

Nice ! Just a suggestion , in the photo it would appear that the aperture is not parallel with the bore , seems to point to high rather than at the front sight. This might make it hard to get a good sight picture . Check to make sure you have the mounting screws in the correct holes or that the screw heads fit the counterbore properly . Having the focal point of the aperture focus on the front sight will make things a lot easier . Nice setup have fun with it !

Steel reciever sight is the ultimate for these rifles IMO. I have Redfields on mine and have all the needed confidence even when moving them around shooting silhouette.
