Ok, assuming youve got a choice, which scattergun will go with you dove hunting today?

My personal choice will be a CZ Bobwhite in 16 gauge. The double barrels give me a choice of chokes instantly, and the gun fits me rather well.

Well see what the birds think of my choice

I've never had much luck with SxS. I'm taking my Benelli M2. Perfect fit, hardly any felt recoil.

Ethan (grandson) would agree with you whole heartedly Sophia.

He prefers my Benelli Black Eagle for the third shot, but on fast flying dove, its usually just wishful thinking

Agree, there's a very fine art to shooting a SxS shotgun. JMB had the right idea stacking the barrels. And I love my Bobwhite it's a joy but my Browning's! Much more better

my favorite that I have taken hunting is my 20 gauge Browning Cynergy O/U the one in front...it's so light I can carry it all day. I love the fact I can have two different chokes to cover up close and personal shots and one for normal ranges.

My other shotgun that has not see the field yet that is a dream to shoot is my Browning XS Skeet 20 gauge shotgun:

The 20 gauge is a very nice size for small game bird hunting.

My favorite WAS the Ruger Red Label, which you can still find now and then online. I've owned the CZ's and they feel good, but they also have issues. For one, both barrel's firing with one trigger pull. No damage, but its not supposed to do that. I have looked at tons of shotgun reviews over that past couple of years, and if I were to pick a new one for me today, it would be the Mossberg SA-08 20 ga. Its about $500, and works better than many that cost over $1000. You can mix high and low brass shells and slugs and it feds and ejects them all. Randy Wakemen did a test of semi auto 20's, and he picked the Mossberg over other higher priced guns. Now I love an over and under, but not a fan on hunting with just 2 shells.

A few years ago I picked up a Kasuga, Toyko side by side. It's very high quality and a delight to carry and shoot. Hands down my favorite.

Everyone I know shoots a Benelli. Made to be used.

I like my 12 ga Franchi Affinity, the poor man's Benelli.

To heavy and to long, a breech gun will be shorter by 6-8".

Winchester Parker reproduction, 28 ga side by side, straight grip, splinter fore end, double triggers, choked quail 1 and quail 2. I'd look for a waterhole where the majority of the shots would be 30 yards or closer.

Johnny

Stevens M311 in 20. Using a Stevens M311 in 12 as a backup. Love those SxS working man's guns. 20 gauge is quite nice and handy. The 12, not so much but I shoot them well.

I forgot to mention doves are considered song birds in MI so I'd never shoot a song bird.
