What advice do y'all have for a squirrel rifle ??

thanx in advance.
I had the same idea about 5 years ago and had a budget also but I wanted a
carbine & went with a GM16.5 fluted match sport barrel.
Went with a Boyds rimfire hunter stock, has a warmed over OEM Ruger trigger with a 2.25 lb pull, Power custom hammer.
Clearidge 3-9X32MM AO scope.

CCI Std V is my go too hunting ammo, here is my sight in target last year.
I like to go with a 25Y zero.

Also have a GM 20 match sport barrel and is also a good shooter.
Your good too go with a GM match sport barrel.

Paying CPC to do a full tune up of your existing 10/22 seems like the holistic approach.

I shoot squirrels with bolt action rifles chambered in 17HM2 and only shoot paper, cans, and grasshoppers with my 10/22s.

Attached is a pic of my "hunting" 10/22. Only thing I don't like about it is.. it weighs a ton - why it's never been shot.

Took a 10/22 compact model.. Ruger 10/22CRR Model 01168 - had Clark Custom do a trigger job, added a JWH competition bolt (now jeweled) + a couple other odds 'n' ends & dropped it into...

A factory Ruger checkered birchwood sporter stock with pencil barrel channel. Got it from 10/22 Race Rifle / R&S Precision's Ebay store for $59.95 TTD

As can be seen from the 2nd pic, there's plenty of "meat" on both sides of the channel to open it up for a bull barrel if desired.

That stock with one of the barrels recommended by others should give you a nice, but not over the top critter getter rifle.

Hope the info helps..
Good luck

Will the green mt sporter 20" fit a DSP stock without opening the channel?
