SWEET

Let the games begin! Imagine it is .177? New or slightly/lightly used?
Ive put more 'rounds' through my recently acquired HW97K in .22 than anything else lately. And not complaining...nor is my wife or dog (who is WAY sensitive to noise). Guesstimating about 300 pellets downbore and I think it is settling/breaking in. Getting some cloverleafs at 12yds benched now; just moved the backer out to 20yd.
I did a torque screwdriver set of the mounting screws at 12in# and put a little triangle pointer of Frog Tape at each to monitor if they move.
Chon'ed it at 680fps 1' out with el-cheapo Gamo (NOT) Match .22 WC's.
I mention these points because it made sense to me after playing with it a bit that it is good to document a baseline and know where I start.
Of course, once I got going I Just Had To chrono them ALL

Gcrank, its a new one in .177. Pretty excited...took a while, but glad I waited for the .177 in walnut.

Just back from shooting about 100 pellets. Very accurate and seems to not really need the 'accuracy break-in'. Only minor issue is the bbl sling swivel moved around a little on me; presume I was hitting hit on the cocking stroke. I also found the trigger guard screw a little light--using good screwdriver, still managed to put a small bugger on the slot. Simply a joy to own and shoot.

Nice looking rifle. The right pellet can make all the difference in the world, my rifles seem to like H&N and JSB pellets best.

Lovely gun!

HW35e has been on my wishlist for some time now. Have been tempted to order one online, but will wait until my next visit to Europe so I can pick out one with nice grain at a big stockist there.

Do you plan to scope yours, put a peep sight on it, or just enjoy it as is?

Glun, I think I'll keep it as it is. It is such as beautiful rifle and excellent shooter as purchased. Just back in from my range. I'm getting nice groups (already) at about 25 yards. Only problem is my eyes!! I really enjoy peeps, but think this HW deserves to be left as-is.

I have some open sighted guns, mostly those that it is not easy to put anything else on, but they are what they are and Im often surprised how well I can still do. It is satisfying to hit in the truly old-school way .
And I think there is something about 'use it or lose it' that applies to open sights.

I agree Gcrank1. Just back in from my "small arms range"....that HW35E is a great shooter. Did a little AR15 shooting afterwards; think I enjoy the HW35E more....and so does my wife. :-) A WEE bit louder.
