These two 40X sporters just sold at the Rock Island auction. The sale price was a bit higher than the estimate

The buyers premium was over 2000$ alone. I think it went for 16k.

Not true the bottom rifle is new in box a complete package, and if you look close you'll see its a special rifle. The top rifle is perfect in all ways except sling swivels are missing and wrong box.

They both look like repeaters, other than the sling swivels are there any differences other than the wood? The lower one looks like it has a 10 round mag and maybe the forend tip is rosewood. They both look pretty nice to me. Boy 10k appease after the auction premiums is way out of my league.

Upper is 40X B and lower is 40X R? I had thought that the later R versions were single shots?

They are both 40xb’s. The top rifle is a “mid run” the bottom is a “late rifle” for the purposes of the conversations here. They both have superior wood. The later 40xr spotters are all single shots.

$18400 was the price after premium, final bid was 16000.

Sorry for the confusion. When trying to look at enlarged photos the B looked like an R. So these are now in the WATCHADDIC collection? Good looking stocks for sure!!

I may know where they are currently residing, lets put it that way. These rifles are really nice examples of the model and the changes over the short production period.

Though he's a tough cookie to be bidding against, Watchdog has a wealth of knowledge about rimfires and will return favors to those who deal with him fairly.
