I want to mount a scope one of my Rem 40X's. I will be shooting out to 200 yards with .22lr. What Picatinny rail mount would work best. I would like a steel mount. 20MOA needed???

Depends on how much adjustment is on the scope you are using. Some don't need a 20mos base. Another option is a mil dot scope. These have limited magnification, so old eyes may not like them.

you are planning to shoot your RF at 200 yards 20 moa rail would help as most 1" diameter scopes do not have the internal adjustment to center you at that distance. Better solution is Burris Z rings with the off set inserts, much simpler. If you are zeroed at 100 yds with std. velocity ammo you will need about 45 inches of come up to center at 200 yards. I would just use regular weave two piece bases and Burris signature Z rings

Do you have 40X or 40X with a B after serial number? Not sure but I think the mount may be different? Or was it early and late B that are different?

FWIW, on my single shots, 40X, 64MS, and Kimbers, I like a 2-piece mounts because it allows more room for loading if you have all thumbs like I do. Now that becomes a problem if you need a 20+ MOA rail because those are usually one piece. You could purchase the rail in whatever MOA you need modify it to allow easier loading or just learn to load under the rail. The Burris rings with the plastic inserts will give you 20 MOA and work on a 2-piece mount.
Just thought I'd point that out. Good luck with your rifle.
Chris
