I saw that 617 stainless cylinders with the new extractor are sometimes available.

Could one be used in a blue vintage K22 as in a centefire wildcat update?

Just wondering about the compatiblity of the new cylinder/star to the old vintage K22/k32/K36/66 cylinders and stars.........

Have heard that the 617 cylinders are a bit longer, so the 327 federal might be more easily handled....

Took delivery of 617 stainless cylinder with the newer extractor. Looks like it might play with some effort in older blued K frames. Hope to try in a 66 this coming week.

On the the SW forums, we have the Project 616 - A 66 with 617 cylinder and barrel converted to .327. Bowen seems to have started "invented" them. At least two of us have them. They are wonderful. Bowen is too busy to make them now but someone else could do the work. I bought the barrel and cylinder from Numrich and a 66 from GB - expensive but great fun.

I have been reading over there as well, posted a little about a newish M15 with a sleeved barrel and reamed old K22 cylinder.

I had a bit of an issue with the timing of the old cylinder and the new frame, but finally over came that. About that time I received the 617 cylinder to try. Only came with the new extractor. Initially I think it might play in what I have, but not there yet. 100 bucks for a stainless versus 300 for a K22 oldie, has some merit here. I have plans for a 22 mink or a Harvey Kay Chuk, and need another cylinder, have the 8" barrel in hand.

Would be interesting to hear how the new 617 really works, or as the one guy said, a lot of extra work etc etc. Now that I have a 617 cylinder, need to gather up the small parts and get into it myself.

I sleeved for my K32 clone project an ebay 6" bulged K22 barrel, could not wait the year or two for rebore if anyone still does it at all. It is done. Have the fixture for the cylinder reaming, will be a 32H&RMag here, because of the reamer that I have.

Yeah, I read some of those articles over on that forum and finally pushed me over the fence..........been on my mind for decades to do myself. Too poor to have it done by someone else.

enjoy that 32, my K32 is still in the wings........... ...............does not sound like many guys have ventured in the K32 clone world yet.
