Of all the air rifles I've owned or shot a D34 Classic has never been in my hands. A local outfitter mismanaged his finances and went belly up recently. What wasn't sold off on clearance was and still is being auctioned off online. A RWS adult high powered air rifle with obvious barrel droop and a chipped stock at the heel sold at a high bid of $65. Add taxes and buyers premiums and 77 and change and it's mine. A spare recoil pad brought the LOP out to my preferred 14.25" and reshaping the heel to fit fixed the chipped stock. Paint stripper and scraper took off the old finish. Yesterday the shellac was sprayed on and the next step is sand that and lacquer finish it. Keeping it blonde, this one.
As for the barrel droop it looks like some finesse at the barrel/compression tube will fix that. Thank goodness I didn't get a goose. It's got plenty of lube but only a hint of diesel smell. I'll put up some piccies as time permits.

Regarding the barrel 'droop' check that the breech seal isn't a shade too thick and not letting the barrel lock up properly in alignment

She's tight. It's making steel to steel contact at the lower part of the breech face. Before doing and filing I'll pop the Oring with a blow gun. Trick to keep it from parting company it to insert the cleaning rod to capture it.

Nice score. Is the droop so bad as to be unusable?

I don't think a droop scope mount would have compensated enough to use a scope. Regardless, it is now fixed. It took over an hour of trial and testing using a Sharpie to mark the breech face to find the contact points.

Here's a link to the pictures on the auction site. The barrel droop was so bad it's obvious in the picture.

During a teardown a nicked seal was found. I polished it up best I could and cleaned up the sharp edges in the compression tube. Some moly powder burnishing and a very light touch of Honda 60 moly paste and break in continues. I did have a little...actually a whole bunch of fun with a Williams dovetail peep sight shooting wild grape vines out of my trees yesterday. A Maccari reduced power spring kit and new piston seals are on order. A docile porch shooter is what I'm after.
