Questions about rifle barrels

Do the scoped rifles use the same barrel as the Iron sighted ones? Not the heavy barrel but the sporter diameter ones. I want to buy a couple 597’s to add my Appleseed loaner collection, and will switch them to Tech Sights. I can drill and tap the barrels no problem, just want to make sure the Tech sights will match the radius.

Thanks in Advance

I am sure they are all the same. I have had both. I measured a standard barrel .22 with sights but the only standard barrel without sights I have handy is a 17HMR. They both measured the same .645" at the muzzle.

In addition to having the same diameter barrel, if you can D&T your own, you may be better off...

It took me two 597's to get one that I could zero the windage on Tech Sights. Since Remington puts both sights on the barrel they don't much care if they are slightly canted relative to the receiver and with the taller front sight on Tech Sights exaggerating that slight angle, my first attempt required maxing out the windage adjustment to not quite zero the gun. Not optimal, and also not a warranty concern since Remington can't guarantee aftermarket parts to work. In short, make sure you drill the front sight true!
