Browning service is the best

I had some slide wear on my Browning 1911/22 A1. I called Browning service in Arnold, Mo and they sent me a pre-paid label to ship the gun to them. Yesterday, three weeks later, UPS rang the doorbell and the driver had me sign for a package. There was a brand new 1911/22 A1 inside!

I had a problem with Browning not having replacement parts back in 2014 and waiting many months for the problem to be resolved. I posted my opinion of Browning's problems at the time and I feel it is necessary to say, just as loudly, that Browning did a great job on correcting the problem this time around.

Browning service staff that I spoke to on the phone was great and they made me feel like a valued Browning customer. I intend to buy another Browning as a result of this experience.

THANK YOU BROWNING!

Now I just need it to stop raining so I can go out and shoot the new 1911/22.

bobalu, They replaced the entire gun, did the transfer paper work, and shipped the new gun directly to my house. I took it out to the range and ran 100 rounds of federal auto-match thru it with no problem and no wear visible on the gun. I hope they do the same for you and send you a replacement gun. Good luck and safe shooting.

how many rounds before slide damage

I didn't keep an accurate count of how many rounds but I don't shoot it nearly as much as my Ruger Mark II or 22/45. I've had the Browning 5 years so I estimate between 6000 and 8000 rounds. I never shot any hyper-velocity(stingers, etc) in it.
I always cleaned it after every range visit. I can't really explain how the slide became damaged, just wear and tear I guess. I bought the gun because I thought it was a unique pistol, knowing that it was not an "every trip to the range" workhorse. Hope this helps, safe shooting and have fun with your Browning 1911/22.

thank you for reply, I do not shoot mine often usually shoot my single actions. I just thought the slide wear problems were gone when I got rid of my Walther/Colt and the GSG 1911 style pistols .

Man, wish Smith and Wesson had that kind of service. Sent my 41 back twice, took over 6 months to get it back each time, and it still don't work right (double feed with a stove pipe). Smith had it a year and can't fix all the problems? Their quality has really gone down hill. Their performance center is their repair shop.

Thanks for sharing OP. Glad to hear Browning stepped up.

15000 rounds, the slide stop pin being steel was peening out the slide stop notch .
