Picked this up today. Had no intention of buying one just happened to be walking by the used gun section in Cabela's and it caught my eye. Waiting on income tax to buy a bolt 17hmr but for now this thing followed me home. Have had a tacticool itch for a while now that needed scratching anyways. Know next to nothing about it so now onto the serial look up etc... but came in an AA556 with the fore grip. Seems to be in good shape so why not.Hope to get some range time in week after next if the weather co-operates.

Congrats on the new rifle.

Hope it treats you right, and do let us know how the range visit goes.

thanks, trying to decide what I want to mount on it for sights, thinking for now either a cheap red dot or something along those lines. Seems like it'll be fun little range toy. Looking forward to seeing how it performs.

I would put a decent red dot sight on it.

one of those longer mlok handguards, even a cheap brand would look amazing on it. not sure which length or if those have a similar mounting style.

I'm thinking sometime in the future, when I have the extra money, I would like to get a shorter (16" probably) heavy barrel for it. Think that would look much better and probably help accuracy. Might try to find a cheap shroud or something to bolt on in the mean time to give it a heavier and less awkward look.

Put a cheaper UUQ on it. The cheap little offset laser seems like it won't be very accurate but bought it for the red dot. Will see how it does at the range next week to see if I keep it or not.

Ordered a ncstar muzzle brake for it today. Not really expecting any actual function from it but think it'll add a lot to the aesthetics of the barrel until I can afford a 16" bull barrel.

Didn't even make it to the range with it. Tried a quick bore sight here in the yard and the thing wouldn't hold zero even walking around the house. Tried to line up the little laser and that quit all together. Guess you really do get what you pay for.

I also ordered a quick detach riser to put under the reflex but I think I like the height it's at now, I can see the flip ups through it. So long as everything lines up when sighting in I might just keep it as is. Range today or tomorrow.

That looks nice, but I think you have the folding sights mounted back-wards.

The flipped up portion should be at the rear of each sight body, but if that way works for you....

Yes I'm new to this style of sights and put them on before looking, flipped them around after taking the pic and realizing I had them backwards. Never been into the "tactical" stuff so it's all new to me. Thanks
