As we know how temperamental it can be to get that dang thing(bolt) it there right when the moon is wrong and your tongue in the wrong corner of your mouth.

First time I cleaned mine the bolt plopped right in. The next time it wouldn't in 2 dozen attempts prompting my search for help. Its a tricky bugger.

I was able to do it once. The next time after about 2 dozen attempts, I took it to my LGS, owners son had never seen one before, popped it in in 5 seconds
Remington has made some doozy rifles over the years. This is one one I believe they would have sold more of if they didn't feel so cheap and weren't so finicky.

Thanks to Glass for further clarification of the workings of the Rem 5MM.
