Only shipping dates are available and to nail that down to the day requires $75 letter from S&W Historical Foundation. Yours most likely shipped 1950-51.

I think it's more likely to be a late 51-early 52 gun. That number is in the region that catches my attention as a birth year gun. I "shipped" in 1952.

NEED EXPERTISE- K22

SN: K. 282854
Located on bottom of barrel and bottom of grips. No numbers on inside of Woden grips. Has screw in front of trigger guard. Only 3 screws on side plate. Acquired this beauty in a trade with a friend, yesterday. Has a large target hammer but a standard size trigger. No original box, tools, or paperwork. NO RUST or blemishes. Has cylinder ring from use. I shot 2 cylinders of CCI sv at 25 yds. Thing is accurate...!!! Tin can was hoppin...!!!
Could someone tell me approximate age on my “ new to me” 22 cal Smith revolver?
I’ve checked the Sticky for info but that did not help.

“New to me”

1955 top side plate screw was deleted.
1961 trigger guard screw was eliminated.
This info from the sticky tells me that the pistol was manufactured and / or shipped in this time frame window.
Can anyone else expand on this information?
