That Citation with the Tournament barrel does look cool. And I'll bet it has that very "dense" feel that gives confidence in holding it on target.
I do think the longer vs. shorter argument is really pitting sight radius against centre of balance. The longer barrel puts more of its weight (even if it weighs the same - fluting brings the weight back down) out front, and angular momentum makes it harder to keep steady.
I can put this to the test by playing around with barrel weight position. Sliding a weight all the way up front makes the gun muzzle heavy and harder to steady (but flips less in rapid fire). The same weight slid further back feels more stable.

My thought on Colt's pistol as well...pretty sure he's not offering it for sale though!! I do prefer the heavier, shorter barrels and may consider picking up a couple of tournaments with examples of both barrels. That said, my pistol shooting is so bad, after two neck surgeries, that I'd probably do just as well shooting thunderbolts through a snub nose.
