Is a Marlin 39A 1941 the same value of a Ruger 10/22 magnum? Less or Higher I have a guy wanting to work a deal and just trying to get a value idea!

A suggestion in finding values.

Go to Gunbroker.com and select advanced search, then select completed auctions. Look at what guns actually sold for. Be careful to see the completed sales, not those with a reserve that was not met. After a while, you will see what the market is.

On a personal note, the Marlin is not made anymore and probably never will be. I would value the Marlin much higher.

The Ruger 10/22 magnum isn't made anymore either. The key is what is the value TO YOU?

Condition of each is a big missing factor here..I know the 10-22s in magnum are somewhat pricey and hard to find..But an early Marlin in good condition, my choice would surely be the Marlin..

Id rather COLLECT the Marlin, and Id rather SHOOT the Ruger. But even then, condition is always my primary and deciding factor. This is such an apples to oranges comparison anyway, only you can assign values to them.

Here's a recent auction on a 10/22 magnum. I think you may be surprised.

That’s exactly one reason I do not buy from auction’s. Some people have more money then they have sense!

I didn't even realize that Marlin made a magnum version of the 39A!!!! I learn something on here every day.

The comparison is between a Marlin 39A .22 LR and Ruger 10/22 .22 magnum Sub sailor. The only .22 mag lever Marlin made was the 1894M to my knowledge.

The question is tough but based purely on street price and assuming equal/similar conditions I believe the Ruger is worth more.

They made a Model 57 .22 war as well, both are uncommon.

The guy I’m dealing with still has the box that goes with this one. He owns two 10/22 mags and he said he will sale it to me for $1100, in which I will probably do instead of trading.

Excellent plan Buck and the price seems in line for a nice lightly used example with box.

Yup, this is the direction I would be moving on a trade.

As much as I love the Marlin 39A, in this case I would have to go with the Ruger. Lots more of the Marlin 39A rifles have been made than the Ruger 10/22 Magnums. I think down the road that Ruger is going to appreciate in value very nicely.
