I think my input has raised the price of heart barreled 541S rifles . Or maybe more correctly, has made some aware of the extra money that they will bring. Probably shot myself in the foot!

Web, I think when the Horton rifles were made they sold for three something. The price of them now is extremely high. I could have bought several at the Local sporting goods but really didn't like the maple. Some had outstanding maple. Maple has kind of grown on me over the years and I wish I would have bought some of the better looking Hortons!

I got lucky and a forum member steered me to it as he knew it was a collectible rifle and not a shooter kind of rifle. It was a NIB rifle. I know i will never shoot it as I have others that I will shoot.Paid a lot of cash for it but know I could sell it at the ROCK ISLAND AUCTION COMPANY which is a couple hours away, probably more than I paid for it even with the premium taken off. Just look at it in my man cave. It has some nice figure in the butt stock and wrist.

Double hearts, double fish and double triangles are on the three I have. None are "collectors".

In post #41 on this thread I pointed out a nice 541S on Gunbroker that I believed to be a $1200 gun, But I thought it could go for more. It went for $1250 and $40 shipping plus maybe a cost for an FFL? Anyhow, $1300, that is what a good clean one with fairly good wood ( nothing extra nice there) will bring. My limit was $1100 there but I was sure I wouldn't get it for that.

It had a $600 stock on it, because stocks are nearly impossible to come by and that was a decent one.

Prices are going up on ORIGINAL NON-JAFFED models. There is also time to get top dollar out of Jaffed up ones as we are still in the stage where a lot of folks think all 541S rifles are the same .

I would really like to get it shooting every time. Who is a great 541 Smith ? I saw someone posted there were some bad bolts. What is the defect ? Thanks to all that can and will offer advice.
