Forgot I made the post about the CST Power Custom bolt, lol.
After thinking it over, I believe I will keep it to myself why I think the CST Power Custom is the overall best bolt.
Yeah, it's a cop out but I don't want all the KIDD fans coming down on me.
All I will say is, when I received my rifle from Joe Chacon and studied the bolt, I understood why he now uses CST exclusively for his builds.

A lot of people like certain bolts for one reason or another. Nothing wrong with that. But as far as function there's no difference between a Kidd, OEM CPC'd, VQ, etc. I've never used a CST bolt so I really was curious as to what is potentially better about them. And as far as I know Joe will use any bolt you want him to. I do respect your decision to keep it to yourself however.

Yes, I heard Joe would use whatever you wanted.
Actually, I mentioned a few brands which he rejected so I told him to use everything he thought was best.
I like all the choices he made for my build but I'm sure some guys would not agree.

generally if you proclaim something is "the best", you should have a reason...and you shouldn't mind sharing what the reasons are, especially when asked, if you really feel that you are correct

like when I say I believe the BX is the best bang for the buck complete trigger assembly for the majority of shooters, it's because for 99% of 10/22 shooters who don't want, need, or can't safely handle a trigger measured in ounces, the price for a complete drop in trigger assembly in the 2.5-3.5lb range, it can't be beat

As for anyone actually looking for a GOOD bolt... A new bolt is going to cost at least $100. Not sure what the Kidd is going for nowadays, but definitely north of that.

There was a test a while back where someone compared bolts back to back. The Kidd and the one blueprinted/modified by CPC were on top, and shot pretty much exactly the same. The CPC actually edged it out by a tiny amount.

If you're wanting to spend money on a bolt, just send the entire gun off to CPC. For $200 he blueprints/accurizes the ENTIRE gun. Barrel, bolt, trigger, etc. For $10 you get a custom fit tool steel extractor, and he will drill a cleaning hole in the rear of the receiver for FREE if asked. Best deal in all of gunsmithing.

Kidd bolts are only $100.
